I recently had a casual shoot at home with some friends. We messed around a bit trying different poses and close up shots. One of the shot turned out nicely like a beauty shot. I've never done a proper beauty shoot before and that got me interested to see what it entails. So I started slowly gathering inspirations on my pinterest board.

Linking this to the theme of medicine and fashion.. The beauty shots reminds me of some plastic surgery adverts I’ve seen in the past. In fact looking at these closely, the lighting and retouching is very similar. Wouldn't it be great to mix the clinical and fashion / beauty concepts together into one editorial shoot.

I don’t want the shoot to be just another plastic surgery advert. It needs to have a fashion / beauty touch to it that makes it slightly more glamorous than clinical. Easier said than done I know! But the fun things is that there are plenty of props to play with.. syringes, bandages, gloves.. you name it.

I also thought surgical markings could add the touch of clinical feel on the face. The challenge is making these markings compliment the makeup.. rather than distract. The surgical markers we actually use in real life (where i work) are purple. So i am toying with the idea of purple make up.. The other colours that are probably in the picture are green (gloves), cream (gloves), light blue (surgical hats/masks), white (bandages). I've been looking at the colour wheel... and i think we have to pay much attention to this for the makeup. I did find this amazing colour themes on Adobe Color CC.

Looking at some inspirations they all seem to be a bit towards the muted side... but i wonder what it would look like edgy.. I do like the strong red lips however in a shot (above) using bandage to cover the rest of the face but leave the lips shown. This really bring attention to the lips. Alternatively, the same can be done with the eyes, to just focus on the eye makeup.

So MUA and model needed!

MUA - if you have a good idea, I'd love to hear them

Models - I'm looking for someone with good skin, fairly slim and contoured face.
